Sensitization on Parliamentary Procedures and Committee Systems Workshop held for Civil Society Organizations

A three day workshop on sensitization to Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) on Parliamentary Procedure and Committee systems was carried out at Paro from 27th February to 1st March, 2023 by the secretariat officials of Parliament of Bhutan under Project ‘Nyamdrel’. The workshop was attended by 25 CSOs and 10 secretariat officials from the National Assembly and National Council.

The objectives of the workshop were to familiarize and acquaint CSOs on the working of Parliament, Committee System, Legislative and Oversight processes and similarly to orient the Parliament on working of CSOs. 

The secretariat officials from the Parliament made presentations on parliamentary procedure, committee systems and oversight mechanisms to the CSOs.  Similarly, the CSOs presented their mandates and challenges thematically.

The workshop was fruitful in terms of getting to share experiences and share knowledge and improve understanding and working relations  between the parliament and CSOs and also explore  avenues  for future collaborations.
