Leader of the Opposition and Deputy Speaker Assume Office
In a simple yet significant ceremony today, Hon’ble Pema Chewang, the Leader of the Opposition, officially took on his responsibilities, representing the Kanglung Samkhar Udzorong constituency, Trashigang Dzongkhag.
Having served 32 years in the civil service, with a previous role as the Secretary of the National Land Commission, Hon’ble Pema Chewang brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Notably, he holds a Master's degree in Development Economics from the Australian National University.
Accompanying this event, Hon’ble Sangay Khandu, the Deputy Speaker from Tashicholling constituency Samtse, also assumed office today. With a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Rangsit University, Thailand, Hon’ble Sangay Khandu is a familiar face, having served as a former Member of the National Council and National Assembly.
The National Assembly Secretariat heartily congratulates both Hon’ble Pema Chewang and Hon’ble Sangay Khandu as they embark on their roles in the service of the nation.
