The Parliamentary Committee for COVID-19 Preparedness and Response meets officials from the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan.

The Parliamentary Committee for COVID-19 Preparedness and Response met the Hon’ble Governor, Dasho Penjore and senior officials from the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan (RMA) at the Gyelyong Tshogkhang today. The meeting was chaired by Hon’ble Dorji Wangdi, Chairperson of the Committee. 

The Governor apprised the Committee on the overall framework of COVID-19 governance in the country and  added   that our COVID-19 management is based on three key aspects: Health and Security, Livelihood, Continuity of Business and Retention of Jobs.

The team highlighted the Overall Credit Portfolio of Financial Sector, Implementation Status of Monetary Measures Phase I including Interest Waiver Computation and Term Based Soft Working Capital Facilities, Monetary Measures Phase II, Interest Waivers and its Conditions, Extension of Loan Deferment, Incentive for Regular Repayments during the Deferment Period, Soft Term Loan for Business Entities, Micro and CSIs. 

The presentation was followed by an extensive interactive session where the Committee and the RMA team exchanged views and clarifications on several issues of both Monetary and Fiscal Matters and Implementation of Economic Measures.  

Hon’ble Speaker, Tshogpon Wangchuk Namgyel also attended the meeting.
