National Assembly re-deliberates on recommendations from the National Council on the Annual Budget for the FY 2020-21

The National Assembly re-deliberated on the amendments and 7 general recommendations received from the National Council on the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for the FY 2019-20 and Budget Appropriation Bill for the FY 2020-21. 

 

The House agreed to incorporate some amendments in the text and also acknowledged the importance and rationale of the recommendations made by the National Council. The House also agreed to the general recommendation of deleting the leave encashment from Dzongkha text of the National Budget for the FY 2020-21 and the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with relevant agencies to come up with realistic austerity measures. The rest of the recommendations however, did not get the support from the House. 

 

The Third Session of the Third Parliament will hold its Closing Ceremony tomorrow.
