Posted on :06 June 2020

The Chairperson for the Economics and Finance Committee, Member from Athang_Thedtsho constituency presented the Review Report on the National Budget for the Financial Year 2020-21  to the House today.

The Committee submitted six observations and recommendations to the House. Firstly, the Committee recommended the withdrawal and surrender of Nu. 5 million appropriated to the National Assembly in the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for the FY 2019-20 to the Ministry of Finance.

The House deliberated and supported all the recommendations made by the Committee on the National Budget for FY 2020-21 except the recommendation pertaining to reprioritization of budget for flagship programs where the Committee felt activities such as  waste and stray dog management were felt to be unproductive. The House also directed the Committee to revisit the name of the Gewog in Zhemgang Dzongkhag that was allocated the CMI budget and report back to House on 8th June 2020 before the adoption of the Budget.
