National Assembly holds plenary meeting

The National Assembly held a plenary meeting today in Lhenzom Khangzang, Gyelyong Tshogkhang on the agenda to be tabled on 1 June 2020. The National Assembly will resume the Third Session of the Third Parliament from 1-17 June   to discuss the Budget Appropriation Bill for the FY 2020-21, Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for the FY 2019-20, Annual Financial Statements of the previous fiscal years. 


The Committee on the Parliamentary Joint Committee on COVID-19  Preparedness and Response also presented a report to the Plenary. Since its first meeting held on 12 March 2020,  the Joint Committee has held 25 meetings, submitted 20 written advisories to the government in addition to other recommendations and met and held consultations with 11 stakeholders.    The plenary was also presented with the seating arrangement inside the Assembly Hall to maintain social distancing. The Prime Minister also updated the Members on the  current plans and action being taken by the government during the time of the pandemic. 

The Closing of the Third Session of the Third Parliament was postponed on 6 March 2020 with the detection of the first Covid-19 case on the  same day.
