Parliamentary Committee on COVID-19 Preparedness and Response meets the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Bhutan (HRAB)

In order to assess the impact of the COVID-19 on the hotels and restaurants in the country, the Parliamentary Committee on COVID-19 Preparedness and Response met the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Bhutan (HRAB). 

The HRAB presented the “Post COVID - Way Forward for Tourism Industry” which included Investment in Service & Tourism Industry in 2018, Hotel Industry’s Contribution to the Economy & Local Market in 2018, Current Structure of Tourism and its Issues, International Tourism Structure To Be Reviewed & Improved, Regional Tourist Guidelines, Carrying Capacity & Health of Tourism Stakeholders - Average Occupancy Rate 2018 and Growth Rate in Hotels 2012-18 along with several immediate, medium and long-term intervention recommendations and opinions from the HRAB.

The Committee thanked HRAB for volunteering to take the responsibility of the Quarantine facilities and expressed its commitment to deliberate on the recommendations highlighted by the team before further referring it to the government. The Committee also reiterated on the need of unity within the Tourism Stakeholders for a better way forward.
