Parliamentary Committee on COVID-19 Preparedness and Responses recommends preventive measures to the Government

The Parliamentary Committee on COVID-19 Preparedness and Responses submitted eight recommendations to the Government on COVID-19 preventive measures.

The first set of six recommendations were submitted on 16th March, 2020 regarding Evacuation of Bhutanese living abroad, Extension of Tourist Restriction, Strengthening Information Declaration and Quarantine, Mapping Dzongkhag Demographic Profile, Defining Mass Gathering and Setting Time Frame for Contingency Plan Committee Works. The second two recommendations on postponement of reopening of schools and the need for a stringent implementation of quarantine protocols was submitted on 17th March, 2020. The recommendations were based on critical and urgent nature of issues that require most immediate attention and the action of the Government drawn based on local situation and current experiences. 

The Joint parliamentary committee was formed on 13th March, 2020 to review the preparedness and response of the government on COVID-19 and provide any other advice and necessary support to the government.
