The House today conducted the Third Reading of the Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Bill of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2020. The Chairperson of the Good Governance Committee, Hon’ble Ugyen Tshering, Member from Lamgong-Wangchang constituency presenting the National Law Review Task Force (NLRT)’s and Committee’s recommendations on the Amendment Bill mentioned that the amendments were proposed to make the Act consistent with the Penal Code of Bhutan 2019.
The House endorsed the two recommendations on the penalty for forged or unauthorised signature and dishonour of cheque for insufficiency, etc.,of funds in the accounts to be dealt with in accordance with the Penal Code of Bhutan 2019.
The Amendment Bill will be put to vote for adoption on Monday, 3rd February, 2020.
