A total of eight Questions were asked to the Minister in Group A today. Four questions were asked to the Prime Minister regarding Government’s preparedness and measures in case of CoronaVirus outbreak in the country, streamlining and strengthening  of the country’s tax system, Government’s preparation for the smooth transition from Least Developing Country and the status of the Government’s pledge to increase the minimum daily wage rate to Nu.450.

The Minister for Information and Communication was questioned on when the Bhutan Broadcasting Service Corporation (BBS) will be established as a public service broadcast and the Government’s plan on addressing issues of BBS and mobile services availability. The questions on measures taken on the safety of the travelers while travelling to neighboring countries and the Government’s plan to address the issue of lack of dedicated caretaker for the temples in the country were asked to the Minister for Home and Cultural Affairs.

Regarding the Government’s plans and preventative measures in case of CoronaVirus outbreak in the country, Prime Minister submitted to the House that the Country is prepared to tackle the outbreak, yet he mentioned that preparation alone will not prevent the disease from entering the country. Each individual should work towards prevention. The Prime Minister informed that people should refrain from traveling to places that have reported coronavirus cases, avoid crowds, and practice hygiene at all times.
