Legislative committee conducts consultative meeting.

Legislative committee today conducted a consultative meeting on the Impeachment Procedure Bill of Bhutan 2019. The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson of the Committee, Hon’ble Tshewang Lhamo. Officials from Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), Royal Audit Authority (RAA), Office of Attorney General (OAG), Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC), Election Commision of Bhutan (ECB) and Bar Council of Bhutan attended the meeting.

The Impeachment Procedure Bill of Bhutan 2019 was referred to the National Assembly from National Council of Bhutan. The Bill consisting of 11 chapters  outlines the procedures for the impeachment of the Holders of the Constitutional Offices incorporating the principles of natural justice, the establishment of an Impeachment Investigation Committee to conduct a thorough, fair and impartial investigation into allegations against the holder of the Constitutional Offices and to provide for any other matters of the Holders of the Constitutional office.

The Bill will be tabled in the upcoming Third Session of the Third Parliament.
