National Assembly conducts two day plenary meeting

The Members of the National Assembly met for the fourth plenary meeting from 20 - 21 Nov, 2019 in the National Assembly Conference Hall. The meeting was Chaired by the Speaker. The Speaker and the Opposition Leader jointly launched the Annual Report 2018-19 of the National Assembly of Bhutan at the start of the meeting. 

The agenda  for the two day  meeting included, issues related to the second constituency visits and recommendations of the House Committee, follow up on the past House Committee recommendations, discussion to conduct three sessions, matters raised during the reflection exercise on one year celebration and way forward, Budget Expenditure status, follow up on action taken  on the House Committee resolutions, setting up e-signature for NAB for in-house use, reports by committees and committee work plan, briefing on the outcome of 141st IPU Assembly and any other business. 

The plenary  decided that a Joint Committee with Members from both the Houses would be formed to study and research on the benefits and possibility of conduct of three sessions a year. The proposal to configure and use e-signature for Members was also approved. The Committees presented the work progress of each Committee assigned during the third plenary on 10th July, 2019. The meeting concluded with a brief presentation on the outcome of the 141st IPU Meeting held in Belgrade, Serbia from 13-17 October 2019

The Agenda Setting Meeting for the Third Session of the Third Parliament is scheduled to be  conducted in the last week of December, 2019.
