Parliament and Youth celebrates the International Youth Day and the 130th Anniversary of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Members of Parliament led by Hon’ble Speaker, Hon’ble Opposition Leader and Hon’ble Chairperson participated in the celebration of the International Youth Day and the 130th Anniversary of Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) at YDF during the evening of 12th August, 2019. A Parliament of Bhutan initiative in collaboration with UNDP and YDF, the interactive session between the youths and the young parliamentarians titled “Tapping Potential: Youth and Young Parliamentarian” was a first of its kind and is expected to be a starting point of such interactive sessions which will bring the youths and Parliamentarian in one page.


The program saw some insightful discussions on a wide range of issues like cultural identity, education, employment, technology, climate change, values and social media during the panel discussion and group work which allowed the youths to work together with young parliamentarians to come up with recommendations and way forward. The program not only included 100 school students but also young entrepreneurs and young graduates.


The program gave the platform for the youths to share their concerns and ideas with the parliamentarians. This coming together of the youths and Parliamentarians is expected to continue as a regular interaction forum between youth and young parliamentarians.
