Members of Parliament and Parliamentary Staff attend 2-day Training on Public Hearings.

The Members of the Parliament led by the Hon’ble Speaker and the Hon’ble Leader of the Opposition Party are attending a two-day training on Public Hearings from 22 - 23 July, 2019.   

The two-day workshop is aimed to build the Members’ understanding of public hearing as an effective mechanism for increasing public participation, improving levels of accountability and trust, and providing the Parliament with alternative sources of knowledge. Another objective of the training was to build participants’ skills to properly plan, prepare and effectively conduct a public hearing as well as understand the importance of proper follow up on a public hearing and enhance participants’ understanding the importance of public consultations and the culture of participant in the 21st century. The training is also aimed to support developing concrete Committee plans for holding public hearings in 2019 and further into 2020.


Some 21 Members of the National Assembly and 3 Members of the National Council along with 11 parliamentary staff of the National Assembly Secretariat are attending the training program. The training supported by UNDP is being facilitated by Ms Doina Ghimici from UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub.
