Motion to Review and Implement Bhutan National Human-WildLife Conflict Management Strategy as a National Flagship Program

The Member from Bardo-Trong Constituency moved the motion to: (1) Review and Implement Bhutan National Human-WildLife conflict Management Strategy as a National Flagship Program and (2) Government to provide barbed wire fencing materials on cost sharing model (50:50) on priority basis as a subsidy to all the affected rural households. The motion was supported by the Member from Bartsham-Shongphu Constituency.

 

During the deliberation on the Motion, the Minister for Agriculture & Forests, while acknowledging the importance of solving the Human-Wildlife conflict, however felt it did not have to be included as a National Flagship Program since the government already had plans and programs to solve the issue.

 

The House did not pass the motion to Review and Implement Bhutan National Human-WildLife conflict Management Strategy as a National Flagship Program after it was put to vote. Out of 41 Members present and voting, 16 voted Yes, 24 voted No and 1 Abstained.

 

On the second recommendation for the Government to provide barbed wire fencing materials on cost sharing model (50:50) on priority basis as a subsidy to all the affected rural households, 22  voted Yes, 15 voted No and 5 Abstained, out of 42 Members present  and voting, passing the Motion.
