Three Bills tabled for First and Second Readings in the National Assembly

Three Bills – the Mines and Minerals Bill of Bhutan 2019 (Government Bill), the Civil and Criminal Procedural Code (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2019 and the Penal Code of Bhutan (Amendment) Bill 2019 were tabled today in the House for First and Second Readings.

 

The general principles and objectives of each Bill was submitted by the Member in Charge of the BIlls. The Mines and Minerals Bill of Bhutan 2019 was introduced by the Minister for Economic Affairs while the Chairperson of the Legislative Committee, Hon’ble Tshewang Lhamo introduced the Civil and Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2019 and  Penal Code (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2019.

 

The House after thoroughly debating the principle objectives and background of the amendment of Bills decided to refer the Mines and Minerals Bill of Bhutan 2019 to the Economics and Finance Committee for further review and to be submitted in the winter session. The Civil and Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2019 and  Penal Code (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2019 was referred to the Legislative committee and the amendments to both the Bills are to be tabled on 11th June 2019 for Third Reading.
