The House continues deliberation on the Action Taken Reports on the implementation of Resolutions of the First Session.

The Chairperson of the Good Governance Committee (GGC), Hon’ble Ugyen Wangdi presented the Review Report on the Petition to Avail permits for forest related services and submitted 11 Recommendations. After a thorough deliberation, the House endorsed 10 Recommendations out of 11 recommendations by a show of hands.  The  recommendation, which recommended   that NRDCL ensure commercial timbers are available from Dzongkhag instead of regional offices and streamline its operation was referred  to the concerned agencies.

 

The Minister for Information and Communication reported  on the establishment of air service from Guwahati to Yongphula, Bumthang and Gelephu. Minister. The Minister reported that in order to establish air service from Guwahati to Yongphula, Bumthang and Gelephu, the three airports need to be upgraded into International Airports. The report also mentioned the requirement of Regulatory Preparedness, Infrastructure and Human Resources and Commercial Viability for the air operators in line with the  regulations set out by Bhutan Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) which are based on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

 

The importance of having the air service route from Guwahati to those places without looking at the Commercial Viability for the benefit of all the people travelling in and out of the country was highlighted throughout the deliberation.

 

The Members mentioned that if the air routes are opened in those places, balanced regional development can be enhanced. Prime Minister acknowledging the importance of having the air service routes, mentioned that it is important to go by the regulations and the requirements based on International Civil Aviation Organizations before establishing the air service routes.

 

With today’s session, the Presentations and deliberation on the Action Taken Reports of the implementation of Resolutions of the First Session ended.
