Mr. Stefano Manservisi, Director General for International Cooperation and Development (DEVCO), European Commission (EC) and delegation made a call on with the Hon'ble Speaker on 12 January, 2019 at 2:30 pm in the Gyelyong Tshogkhang.
The Speaker warmly welcomed the Mr. Manervisis and the delegation to Bhutan and thanked the European Union for having supported development projects in Bhutan and also for support to the capacity building of the Parliament in the past. He hoped that the good will and development cooperation between the two countries will continue especially with support to Parliament in terms of capacity building of the Members and the secretariat staff and in parliament initiatives.
The Director General thanked the Speaker for the warm welcome and reaffirmed support to the government and the Parliament. It was mentioned that the EU had received the project proposal submitted by the Parliament of Bhutan and expressed their for the proposal.
The delegation after the call on visited the National Assembly Hall. The European Union (EU) – Bhutan Cooperation started in 1982 with the first agreement on Plant Protection Services Project.
