The First Session of Third Parliament Commences

The Opening Ceremony of the First Session of the Third Parliament was held today. The Ceremony was graced by His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo, Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen and Members of the Royal Family.


The Speaker, Mr. Wangchuk Namgyel welcomed His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Gyaltsuen and the Members of the Royal Family, representatives of the central monastic body, foreign dignitaries, government officials and the people to the inaugural session. The Speaker said that Members of Parliament will strive to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people and serve with utmost dedication. The Speaker also expressed his deep gratitude to His Majesty the King and the Members of National Assembly for entrusting him with the role of the Speaker for the Third National Assembly. The Speaker offered prayers for the successful conclusion of the First Session of the Third Parliament and long life of His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo and Members of the Royal Family.


The First Session will be Adopting the 12 Five Year Plan and the Budget Appropriation Bill for the FY 2018-2019.  The Parliament will also formally adopt the formation of Committees and Chairperson and deliberate on two International Protocols/Agreements, Petitions received from the Dzongkhags and Review Report of the Annual Audit Report 2017 by the Public Accounts Committee in the Joint Sitting of the Parliament.
