Call on to the Hon’ble Speaker by His Excellency Mr. Nadir Patel, Ambassador of Canada to Bhutan

His H.E. Mr. Nadir Patel, Ambassador of Canada to Bhutan made a courtesy call on to the Hon’ble Speaker at the Gyelyong Tshogkhang today.

The Speaker warmly welcomed the Ambassador to Bhutan and expressed his appreciation for the support and friendly relations shared between the two governments. He also expressed his hopes that the cooperation between the two governments would continue and looked forward to parliamentary exchanges where the committees could learn and share experiences.

The Ambassador, who is in Bhutan to mark the 15th anniversary of Diplomatic relations between the two countries from 10-13 December, congratulated the Speaker on the formation of the government and on being elected as the Speaker. He said that although it's been 15 years of formal diplomatic relations, informal relations dates back further to education ties which began with late Father Mackey.  The Ambassador said that he looked forward to further and deepen relations between the two countries in terms of economic, social and political ties and keep the legacy of Late Father Mackey alive with continued cooperation in areas of Education.

The Ambassador also offered to support the committees in sharing information and expertise from Ottawa, Canada in areas of economic, social and support to women and children issues.

The Chairperson of Economics and Finance Committee,  Hon’ble Kinley Wangchuk, Athang-Thedtso constituency and Chairperson of the Women, Children and Youth Committee, Hon’ble Tshering Chhoden, Khar-Yurung constituency  were also present during the call on.
