Courtesy Call- on to Hon’ble Tshogpon by the UN Resident Coordinator

The UN Resident Coordinator of Bhutan, His Excellency, Mr. Gerald Daly along with UNDP Dy. Resident Representative  Mr. Juergen Nagler made a  courtesy call-on to Hon’ble Tshogpon, Mr. Wangchuk Namgyel in the Gyelyong Tshogkhang today. The Hon’ble Speaker extended a formal welcome to the UN Resident Coordinator  and the UNDP Resident Representative.

Mr. Gerald thanked the Hon’ble Speaker for his time  and for meeting with them and briefly introduced himself and the UNDP Dy. Resident Representative  Mr. Juergen Nagler. His Excellency briefed on  the working of the UN and support to Bhutan and Parliament. He  further expressed his support and interest in briefing the newly elected Members of Parliament on the working of the UN if required, especially on the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Speaker, expressed his gratitude to the UNDP for the support provided to the Parliament in terms of capacity building and the initiatives of Virtual Zomdu, which has made interaction between the people and the parliamentarian more easy and convenient. The Speaker hoped that UNDP will continue to support the Parliament in the future and look forward to further interactions with the UNDP especially with the Parliamentary Committees.
