H.E. Mr. Md. Fazle Rabbi Miah, DY. Speaker of Bangladeshi Parliament calls on Hon Speaker

A four member delegation led by H.E. Md. Fazle Rabbi Miah, DY. Speaker of Bangladeshi Parliament called on the Hon Speaker this morning at the Gyalyong Tshogkhang.  He extended their gratitude to the Royal Government for the very warm welcome accorded to him. His Excellency, expressed deep appreciation of the Government of Bangladesh to the Government of Bhutan for being the first nation to recognize the independence of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh after the War of Independence in 1971. 

The Hon Speaker welcomed the delegation and expressed his satisfaction with the existing bilateral relations between Bhutan and Bangladesh and the ties of trade and commerce. There is immense potential to cooperate in energy and transportation and education has further strengthened the friendship and good will between the two countries.

The Hon Speaker expressed his hopes to continue building on the excellent relations between the two Parliaments and expressed that the joint invitation from the Speaker and the National Council extended to the Speaker during the last visit to Bangladesh to the Speaker of the Bangladeshi Parliament still stands.

The Hon Speaker also shared his plans and initiatives for a paperless parliament and expressed his interest to train the secretariat staff.

The delegation, who is currently visiting Bhutan in connection with the Youth Leadership and Excursion Camp in Thimphu, will be in the country till August 2, 2017.
