Deliberation deffered on Multilateral Agreement for establishment of Think Tank

Posted on :17 May 2017

Today, the Foreign Minister introduced the Multilateral Agreement for the Establishment of Think Tank for Land Locked Development Countries in the House. The Minister informed that the agreement would benefit the country in sharing ideas and expertise for development with other land locked countries.  It was also informed that the international consultations pertaining to the agreement had started since 2009 and the Think Tank would be established in Mongolia after at least ten countries ratify the agreement.

Deliberating on the agreement, the House recognized the importance of the agreement and the benefits it will accrue for the country. However, most of the Members submitted that it was important to review the Almaty Program of Action and the Vienna Program of Action both associated with the agreement before the ratification. Submissions were made that it was not wise to continue with the deliberation since the related papers in question were not made available before the House which have to be reviewed.

The House consequently resolved that the deliberations on the agreement would resume at a later date once the documents on Almaty Program of Action and the Vienna Program of Action are reviewed by the House.
