Parliamentary Joint Committees for disputed Bills
The Parliament constituted two Joint Committees to work on the disputed bills, namely the Forest and Nature Conservation Bill of Bhutan 2021 and the Civil Liability Bill of Bhutan 2022. Hon’ble Speaker Wangchuk Namgyel and Hon’ble Chairperson Sangay Dorji attended the opening of the meeting.
The Joint Committee on the Forest and Nature Conservation Bill elected Hon’ble Gyem Dorji from Draagteng-Langthil constituency as the Chairperson and Hon’ble Ugyen Tshering, Council member from Paro as the Deputy Chairperson.
The Joint Committee on the Civil Liability Bill elected Hon’ble Passang Dorji from Bartsham-Shongphu constituency as the Chairperson and Hon’ble Ugyen Tshering, Eminent Member as the Deputy Chairperson.
The Joint Committees comprises seven members from the National Assembly and five members from the National Council. They were formed as per the Legislative Rules of Procedure 2022 to deliberate on the disputed sections of the Bills and to submit the recommendations to the Parliament during the upcoming Summer Session.
