7th European Parliament and Parliament of Bhutan’s Inter-Parliamentary meeting

The Chairperson, the vice chairperson and some members of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Women, Children and Youth Committee, Economic and Finance Committee, Environment and Climate Change Committee, and Human Rights and Foreign Relations Committee met with the member of the European Parliament's Delegations for Relation with South Asia Countries led by Vice President of the European Parliament Ms. Evelyn Regnar this afternoon.

The meeting was chaired by the Chairperson of the Human Rights and Foreign Relations Committee, Hon’ble Rinzin Jamtsho. There were exchanges of opinions and discussions in the field of diplomacy, status and rights of women and children, food security, climate resilience activities, electric cars, tourism and tourism reforms and geopolitics amongst other emerging issues.

Diplomatic relations between Bhutan and the European Union (EU) were established on 9 August 1985. However, engagement between Bhutan and the EU started even earlier in 1982 when the first agreement on the Plant Protection Services Project was signed.
