Representatives of Parliament attend the 400th anniversary of Dratsang and Zhabdrung Kuchoe.

Parliament representatives led by the Hon’ble Speaker, Wangchuk Namgyel visited Punakha Dzong today to attend the 400th anniversary of Zhung Dratsang and prayer events leading to Zhabdrung Kuchoe. The Honorable members had also offered prayers and reverence to the new Thongdrol of Kuenkhen Pema Karpo.

Zhabdrung Kuchoe, is observed on the 10th day of the third Bhutanese month every year to mark the day when Zhanbdrung Nawang Namgayel passed away. As stated above, this year marks the special occasion of 400 years of institution of the Dratsang (monk body) by Zhabdrung Nawang Namgyel in Cheri monastery, Thimphu with 30 monks.
