Parliamentarians attend the first of its kind virtual training session

The Members of the National Assembly of Bhutan led by the Speaker are attending a 5-day training on Legislative Drafting, conducted virtually, at the Institute for Management Studies Ltd. in Serbithang. The legislative and research staff of the National Assembly Secretariat are also attending the training which will conclude on 7th August, 2020.

Government updates Parliament on the COVID 19 Response and Readiness.

The Government made a presentation on the updates of responses and readiness with regard to COVID-19 pandemic to the Members of Parliament on 30th July 2020. During the presentation, the ministry of health highlighted the national situation, significant COVID-19 national intervention, uniqueness of Bhutan in handling the pandemic situation, immediate risks and priorities for Bhutan, community transmission mitigation strategy, lockdown and also on COVID-19 vaccines.

Auditor General makes a farewell call to the Hon’ble Speaker

The Auditor General of the Royal Audit Authority (RAA), Dasho Tshering Kelzang made a farewell call to the Speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan on 28th July 2020. He was accompanied by Mr. Ugyen Dorji, Deputy Auditor General of the Directorate of Services.

Resourcing each other in the National Assembly Secretariat

The National Assembly Secretariat with the aim to build organizational capacity of the Secretariat, launched an in-house learning exercise titled “RESOURCING EACH OTHER” on 28th July 2020. The Secretariat underlines that effective communication and the art of presentation are crucial for staff to work efficiently and that through this exercise, it will enhance the confidence of the staff, leading them to be more conversant and productive in their lives.

National Assembly Secretariat offer prayers

The staff of the National Assembly Secretariat led by Hon'ble Speaker and the Secretary General lighted butter lamps and offered prayers at the Sang-nga Choekhor Buddhist Institute for the RBA rescuers who lost their lives while evacuating the people stranded in Maochhu in Gelephu and for the pandemic and monsoon situation to improve over the time.

The Parliamentary Committee for COVID-19 Preparedness and Response met the Hon’ble Governor, Dasho Penjore and senior officials from the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan (RMA) at the Gyelyong Tshogkhang today. The meeting was chaired by Hon’ble Dorji Wangdi, Chairperson of the Committee.

During the brief meeting held in the Office of the Chief Justice of Bhutan, the Speaker once again congratulated the Chief Justice of Bhutan on behalf of the National Assembly of Bhutan and introduced his accompanying members and officials.
