Deliberation concludes on the PAC report with recommendations

The deliberation on the report of the Public Accounts committee (PAC) concluded today in the joint sitting of Parliament. The deliberation mainly centered on the recommendations made by the PAC which were subsequently endorsed with a show of hands by the majority.

Public Accounts committee presents its report

The Chairperson of the Public Accounts committee presented its report to the joint sitting of Parliament today. The report contained the synthesis of Annual Audit Report 2014 (AAR), synthesis of review reports of AAR 2009-2013, status of cases forwarded to the Anti-Corruption Commission and issues pertaining to Public Accounts committee’s business.

Status of hydro projects questioned
The Minister for Economic Affairs was questioned by the Member from Radhi-Sakteng constituency on the status of the KuriGongri, Sunkosh and three Joint Venture hydropower projects of Bunakha, Amochhu and Wangchhu. In his response, the Minister informed that given the excellent relations between Bhutan and India, the works on hydro power projects were progressing smoothly.

Civil & Criminal Procedure Code and the Penal Code of Bhutan to be reviewed

The Chairperson of the Legislative committee moved the motion to review and amend the Civil & Criminal Procedure Code 2011 and the Penal Code of Bhutan 2011. He informed that the Legislative committee will work closely with relevant committees such as the Human Rights committee and Women, Children & Youth committee in reviewing the provisions of the above laws.
