National Assembly Adopts the Budget Appropriation Bill for the Financial Year 2021-22 and the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill 2020-21.

The National Assembly today adopted the Budget Appropriation Bill for the Financial Year 2021-22 for a sum not exceeding Nu. 80,483.150 million which includes a current expenditure of Nu. 35,598.664 million, Nu. 38,320.671 million capital expenditure, Nu. 5,654.415 million for repayment, and Nu. 909.400 million for on-lending with all Yes Votes from  38 Members present and voting.

National Assembly adopts the Customs Duty Bill of Bhutan 2021

The Member-In Charge of the Bill, Hon’ble Finance Minister moved the motion to adopt the Customs Duty Bill of Bhutan 2021 today. The Bill was adopted with 32 Yes, 1 No and 5 Abstaining out of the 38 Members present and voting.

The Bill will be referred to the National Council as a Money Bill.

National Assembly deliberates on the Annual Budget for the FY 2021-22

The Chairperson of the Economic and Finance committee, Hon’ble Kinley Wangchuk presented the Committee’s Review Report on the National Budget for Financial Year 2021-22 to the House today. The National Budget was referred to the Committee on 28th May 2021 for review.

Question Hour: Health Minister joins the Question Hour session virtually

A total of eight Oral Questions were asked to the Ministers in group D today during the Question Hour Session. The Hon’ble  Health Minister answered the questions virtually from the quarantine centre she is in, after having returned from Geneva, Switzerland.

National Assembly adopts Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021

The National Assembly today adopted the Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021 with all the  39 Members present and voting, voting in favour of the Bill. The Amendment Bill will be referred to the National Council as a Money Bill and is scheduled to come into force from 1st July 2022.

The National Assembly of Bhutan today adopted the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021. The Chairperson of the Good Governance Committee, Hon’ble Ugyen Dorji moved the motion to pass the Bill.

The National Assembly ratifies two International Conventions

The House ratified the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the People’s Republic Of Bangladesh with all the  40 members present and voting, voting in favor of the Agreement. The  United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) Amendment was also ratified with 39 Yes and 1 Abstain from 40 Members present and voting.
