Question Hour- Maternity allowance to be rolled out within a year

Responding to the question on the status of the Government’s pledge of maternity allowance, the Health Minister reported that the required plans and preparations for rolling out the Maternity allowance is almost completed and it will be rolled out within a year. The Minister informed the House that the &ldquo Accelerating Mother and Child” Health Program will facilitate mothers who are not entitled to paid maternity leave to benefit…....

National Assembly concludes deliberation on the Lhengye Zhungtshog Bill of Bhutan 2020

The National Assembly concluded the deliberation on the Lhengye Zhungtshog Bill of Bhutan, 2020 today. The House deliberated on all the ten Chapters of the Bill along with the recommendations of the Human Rights and Foreign Relations Committee in three consecutive sittings.

The Lhengye Zhungtshog Bill of Bhutan 2020 will be put up for adoption tomorrow, 9th December, 2020.

The National Assembly continued the deliberation on the Lhengye Zhungtshog Bill of Bhutan, 2020. The House deliberated on Chapters regarding powers, functions and responsibilities, privileges and immunities, code of conduct, offences and penalties and dissolution of the Lhengye Zhungtshog.

Motion to raise the retirement age of Civil Servants to 60 years

The Member from Dewathang-Gomdar constituency, Hon’ble Ugyen Dorji moved the motion: (1) For the government to institute a system of reviewing the retirement age of civil servants from time to time; and (2) To raise the retirement age for all categories of civil servants to 60 years. The Member from Nganglam Constituency seconded the motion.

4th Session of the 3rd Parliament goes Digital

The National Assembly of Bhutan goes Digital. It is an unprecedented move to capitalize benefit from Covid-19. The paperless or use of digital during deliberation is also in keeping with the national initiative to conserve resources and enhance efficiency. The electronic device has also been used extensively in the committee meetings and in the plenary sessions.
