Three Bills tabled for deliberation in the National Assembly

The Tax Bill of Bhutan 2022, Civil Service Reform Bill of Bhutan 2022, and the Civil Liability Bill of Bhutan 2022 were tabled today in the House for First and Second Readings by the Members in Charge of the Bills, the Finance Minister, the Prime Minister and the Chairperson of the Human Rights and Foreign Relations Committee respectively.

Recently, I met a 27-year-old woman who has a four-year-old son. She works in a café, and makes Nu. 12,500 a month. Her house rent is Nu. 7,750. She is her family’s sole breadwinner. I was dismayed to hear about her struggles supporting her family and trying to make ends meet.

Economics and Finance Committee conducts consultations on the ease of doing business

The Economics and Finance Committee today met with the officials from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Labour and Human Resources, Tourism Council of Bhutan, and Department of Immigration to discuss on the ease of doing business and on the Committee’s review report from their recent visit to the southern parts of the country.

The Baseline Assessment team met the Members of the Economic and Finance Committee and the Women, Children, and Youth Committee on 12th October 2022. The baseline assessment is being conducted with the objective to ensure that the SKPA program activities are harmonized with the HIV program.
