National Assembly adopts the Budget Appropriation Bill for the Financial Year 2022-23 and the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill 2021-22.

The National Assembly today adopted the Budget Appropriation Bill for the Financial Year 2022-2023 amounting to Nu. 81,827.311 million which comprises of Nu.36,340.942 million current budget and Nu.45,486.369 million capital budget with all Yes Votes from  42 Members present and voting.

Third reading on the Fiscal Incentives (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2022 and the Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2022

The Chairperson of the Legislative Committee, Hon’ble Tshewang Lhamo submitted the Committee’s recommendation on the Fiscal Incentives (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2022 and Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2022 for the Third Reading today. The Bills was referred to the Committee for further review on 8th June 2022.

The House today continued the deliberation on the Economic and Finance Committee’s Review Report on the National Budget for Financial Year 2022-23. The Chairperson of the Committee, Hon’ble Kinga Penjor submitted an additional recommendation recommending the Government to take up the prevailing high-interest rate and collateral valuation issues with the Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) to facilitate private sector borrowings and boost the economy.

The House today continued the deliberation on the Forest and Nature Conservation Bill of Bhutan 2021. As per the directive of the House, the Environment and Climate Change Committee resubmitted their recommendations on some sections of the Bill on the opinions raised by the Members in the House last Friday.

National Assembly ratifies United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children (TIP Protocol)

The National Assembly ratified both the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children (TIP Protocol) with the reservations on Article 16.5 (a) and Article 35.3 of the UNTOC and Article 15.3 of the TIP Protocol with 100% support from 45 Members present and voting.

The National Assembly today tabled the third reading on the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (UNTOC) and Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children (TIP Protocol). The House deliberated on all 41 Articles of the UNTOC and 20 Articles of the TIP Protocol before the deliberation on the recommendations made by the Human Rights and Foreign Relations Committee.
