The Joint Sitting of the Parliament today deliberated on the recommendations of the Joint Committee on the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021. The Joint Committee was instituted to review the disputed clauses of the Anti-Corruption (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021 between the two Houses of Parliament.

Today, the Joint Sitting of the Parliament deliberated on the disputed clauses of the Civil Society Organizations (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021. The Chairperson of the Joint Committee on the Civil Society Organizations (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2021, Hon’ble Phuntsho Rapten, Eminent Member, National Council presented the Committee’s recommendations on the 24 disputed clauses along with the recommendations from National Assembly and National Council.

The Joint Sitting of the Parliament today deliberated on the recommendations of the Joint Committee on the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC) (Amendment). The Joint Committee was constituted to resolve the disagreement between the two Houses on the reservation clause under the ‘settlement of disputes’ in the UNCAC (Amendment).

The National Assembly re-deliberated on the amendments and objections received from the National Council on the Royal Bhutan Police (Amendment) Bill 2021 today. Hon’ble Drungtsho Karma Wangchuk, Chairperson of the Social and Culture Committee moved the motion for the re-deliberation of the Bill presenting the National Council’s 21 amendments, 3 new sections, and 1 section proposed for repeal.
