Delegation from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Germany Calls on the Hon’ble Speaker

The delegation from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Germany called on the Hon’ble Speaker on 20th January 2023, led by the foundation’s head of South Asia in New Delhi, Dr Carsten Klein. He thanked the Hon’ble Speaker for the warm hospitality and continued support provided to the Bhutan Media Foundation. Introducing the other representatives, he shared that while the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom head office is located in Delhi, they have offices all over South Asia. He also highlighted that one of their best partners is Bhutan Media Foundation and they are delighted to work with the Foundation. He also expressed their interest to work with the Parliamentarians through Bhutan Media Foundation in the future.
The Hon’ble Speaker thanked the delegates for actively engaging in the capacity building of the Parliamentarians and the parliamentary Secretariat officials. Hon’ble shared the evolution of democracy in Bhutan and the Parliamentary process of the National Assembly. The Speaker also highlighted some major challenges faced by the Parliamentarians, the transformational reforms, and the Strategies Development Plan for the National Assembly of Bhutan.
The delegation is on a five-day visit to Bhutan from 19 to 23 January.
