Today, the Members of the National Assembly led by the Hon’ble Speaker attended a presentation on the 13^th Five Year Plan by the Office of the Cabinet Affairs and Strategic Coordination (OCASC). The Leader of the Opposition Party was present.

A team from the Royal Civil Service Commission led by Commissioner Dhanapati Mishra made a presentation on the Civil Service Reform to the Secretariat staff of the National Assembly today.

The Parliament constituted two Joint Committees to work on the disputed bills, namely the Forest and Nature Conservation Bill of Bhutan 2021 and the Civil Liability Bill of Bhutan 2022. Hon’ble Speaker Wangchuk Namgyel and Hon’ble Chairperson Sangay Dorji attended the opening of the meeting.

After having decided on the agenda for the upcoming session, the Secretariat organized presentations on the Bills and international instruments to be deliberated to the Members of the National Assembly today. 

The Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament concludes stakeholder consultations on the audit issues and unresolved financial irregularities reflected in the Annual Audit Report 2021-2022 and Review Reports on Annual Audit Report 2010 to 2020.

The Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific of Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance Mrs. Leena Rikkila Tamang made a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Speaker today. 

A strategy document for the collaboration between the Parliament of Bhutan and the Civil Society Organizations (CSO) was jointly launched today by Hon’ble Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon’ble Chairperson of the National Council, Ms. Paola Pampaloni and Mr. Matio Ronconi from European Union, Ms. Leena R. Tamang from IDEA and the Dr. Rinzin Rinzin representing CSOs of Bhutan. 

Hon’ble Tshencho Wangdi, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Bhutan and the Chairman of the Bhutan-Mongolia Parliamentary Group and Hon’ble Tshering Chhoden, member of the Parliamentary Group had a meeting with the members of the Parliamentary Group from Mongolian Parliament virtually. 

In preparation for the coming Summer Session of Parliament, the Members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) are in the South conducting stakeholder consultation on audit issues after completing the same in the Central and Eastern regions. 

PAC conducted a series of consultations on Annual Audit Report 2021-2022 and Review Reports on Annual Audit Report 2010 to 2020 in the Eastern and Central region. 

Ambassador Mr. Freddy Svane who is currently in Bhutan called on the Hon’ble Speaker on 28th April.

The Hon’ble Speaker accompanied by Hon’ble Kinley Wangchuk and Hon’ble Passang Dorji (PhD) interacted with the Centre for GNH guests. The Hon'ble Speaker welcomed the guests and spoke on the mandates of the National Assembly of Bhutan.

Today, a 17 members high level delegation from the European Union (EU) led by the EU Ambassador Mr. Ugo Astuto called on the Hon’ble Speaker.  The delegation comprised of Ambassadors and Ambassador designates from Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Sweden, Charge d’Affaires from Greece and Poland and High Commissioner from Malta and EU officials. 

The Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament is continuing its consultation to review on the unresolved audit irregularities reported in the Annual Audit Report 2021-22 financial year and on pending unresolved audit issues from 2010 to 2020 in preparation for report to the upcoming summer session.
