Third Reading of the Civil and Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2019

Today, the House commenced its Third Reading on the Civil and Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) Bill of Bhutan 2019. The Chairperson of the Legislative Committee, Hon,ble Tshewang Lhamo, member from Bongo-Chaphha constituency, submitted that the recommendations of the National Law Review Taskforce (NLRT) and the Legislative Committee are presented for the Third Reading on the Bill. She also informed that consultations were held with various agencies and stakeholders before drawing committee’s recommendations.

 

The House deliberated on each section of the Bill along with the recommendations submitted by the National Law Review Taskforce (NLRT) and the Legislative Committee. Most of the recommendations submitted by the Committee were supported by the House after a thorough deliberation except for Section 6.1, Section 107.1 of CCPC (Amendment) Act 2011, Section 199.8A of CCPC (Amendment) Act 2011 and Section Definition in the Bill.  The Committee was directed to revisit those sections and report to the House tomorrow before its adoption.

 

A motion will be moved for the Bill to be passed tomorrow.
