Courtesy call on to Hon’ble Speaker by the European Union (EU) Delegation

His Excellency, Mr. Tomasz Kozlowski, Ambassador of European Union (EU) along with the Ambassadors of EU Member States based in New Delhi called on Hon’ble Speaker today.


The Speaker welcomed the team and expressed his gratitude to European Union for always supporting and showing importance to the Parliament of Bhutan. He also talked about the importance of Parliament in Bhutan’s young democracy and various on-going  capacity strengthening programs  being conducted for the Members of Parliament.


His Excellency, Mr. Tomasz Kozlowski thanked the Hon’ble Speaker for the warm welcome and congratulated  the Speaker on being elected as the Speaker of Bhutan. He assured continued support of the European Union to Bhutan. He also agreed on Parliament being the core of democracy and the importance of learning from each other. The team also mentioned that they are currently exploring possibilities to support  the Parliament in terms of capacity building of Members of Parliament, internship programs and short term trainings for Parliamentary Staff. The team invited the Hon’ble Speaker and the Members of the Parliament for an exchange visit, to further interactive learning between European Union and Parliament of Bhutan.


The Speaker thanked the team for always being ready to support Bhutan and the Parliament of Bhutan. He mentioned that any investment made for the country or the Parliament will not go in vain.


After the call on, the team visited the Parliament Hall.
