Launch of the Bhutan National Human Development Report: Ten Years of Democracy in Bhutan

His Excellency Dr. Lotay Tshering, Prime Minister of Bhutan along with the H.E Mr. Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator launched the Bhutan National Human Development Report: Ten Years of Democracy in Bhutan at the Gyelyong Tshogkhang courtyard in Thimphu today.


Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Speaker Wangchuk Namgyel said that Bhutan’s democracy is built on a foundation of a unique Constitution that provides a broad vision for the future and establishing a stable Government to ensure good governance. The Speaker expressed the commitment of the Parliament to improve governance through strengthening of the rule of law and providing check and balances, enhancing transparency and   and improving public service delivery. The Report is a reminder that human development is the essence of development and the report also resonates relationship between Gross National Happiness and the Sustainable Development Goals as a broad vision for human development.
