Parliamentary Delegation participates in the APA’s Social and Cultural Affairs Standing Committee

A two-member Parliamentary delegation led by Hon. Lhatu from the National Council and accompanied by Hon. Choki Gyeltshen from the National Assembly are participating at the APA Standing Committee Meeting on Social and Cultural Affairs in Bangkok, Thailand from 12-15 February 2019.


The Bhutanese Parliamentary delegation had a courtesy call-on with the President of the National Legislative Assembly of Thailand, H.E. Prof. Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, before the meeting.


The Standing Committee will be discussing and adopting Ten Resolutions on the measures to promote cultural diversity and protect cultural heritage, integration through ICT, collaboration on health equity, rights of migrant workers, parliamentarians against corruption, women parliamentarians, dialogue and harmony among world religions, combating smuggling of cultural items, combating illicit drug trafficking and humanitarian aids to Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Gaza and Myanmar.


There are about 100 participants from over 21 countries at the meeting.
