The National Assembly deliberates on the Air Service Agreement between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates.

The House today deliberated on the Air Service Agreement between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates. The Agreement was introduced to the House by the Minister for Information and Communications.

 

The Minister gave a brief background on the Agreement and highlighted some the advantages of the Agreement which the increased air services will bring to the country such as reduced travel time from Bhutan to Dubai, increased employment and business opportunities considering that Dubai International Airport is one of the busiest airport hub for trade and commerce, promotion of tourism, reliable air connectivity and also boosting of the national economy.

 

Members, while supporting the Agreement also expressed concerns of the people living nearby the international airport, security of the country and pollution and air traffic congestion issues.  

 

The House deliberated thoroughly, article by article, on the provisions of the the Air Service Agreement and it will be put to vote tomorrow.
