Public Accounts Committee conducts Public Hearing on Unresolved Irregularities reported in the 11th Session

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) conducted Public Hearing with Ministries (Ministry of Agriculture and Forests, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Works and Human Settlement, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and autonomous agencies (Bhutan Cricket Federation, Bhutan Development Bank Ltd, Bhutan Education City Secretariat, Bhutan Football Federation, Election Commission of Bhutan, Gross National Happiness Commission, National Land Commission, Royal University of Bhutan and Royal Society for Protection of Nature) on unresolved irregularities for the Annual Audit Report 2010-15. The officials from Royal Audit Authority (RAA) also attended the hearing.


As of 31st March, 2018, Nu. 816.411 million remained unresolved for the Annual Audit Report 2010-15 and ministries have the highest amount of irregularities amounting to Nu.301.903 million followed by autonomou agencies with Nu. 164.591 million.


Today’s  public hearing is based on the resolution of 11th Session of the Second Parliament to conduct as many public hearing as possible with the concerned agencies to resolve the pending audit irregularities lying with the agencies. The hearing provided an opportunity to the concerned stakeholders to clarify on their pending audit irregularities. With the conduct of the hearing, PAC learnt that some of the issues were already resolved while some were in the process of being resolved. Further, this public hearing facilitated the stakeholders with the way forward to resolve the issues and also as a reminder on the resolution of 11th Session to resolve all the pending irregularities of AAR 2010-16 within 20th June, 2019.


The public hearing ended with concluding remarks by the Chairperson of PAC.
