Ninth Session of the Second Parliament concludes

The Ninth Session of the Second Parliament concluded today. The occasion was graced by His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo. In his concluding address, the Speaker welcomed and expressed his gratitude to His Majesty for gracing the occasion. On behalf of the Parliament, he further expressed his gratitude to His Majesty for the royal initiatives undertaken for the welfare of the people and the country. Words of gratitude were also expressed to other Members of the Royal Family, His Holiness the Je Khenpo and the members of the clergy for their constant and continued noble initiatives for the people and the country.

 

The Minister for Information & Communications, Member of National Council from Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhag and the Member of National Assembly from the South Thimphu constituency also moved the motion of thanks to His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo.

 

The Speaker also reported that in this session the joint sitting of parliament passed the Customs Bill of Bhutan while the Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN) Motor Vehicle Agreement has been deferred. Similarly, the National Assembly passed the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Terrorism Bill 2017, the Revised Budget of Nu. 59,227.076 million for the fiscal year 2016-17 and the Annual Budget of Nu. 60,777.871 million for the fiscal year 2017-18 among others.
