Presentation on BICMA Bill 2016

The officials from the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) made a brief presentation on BICMA Bill 2016 to the Honorable members of the legislative committee today. A total of 30 participants attended the meeting.


The presentation highlighted on the background of the BICMA Bill 2016 which will repeal the existing Bhutan Information, Communication and Media (ICM) Act 2006. The main objectives of the Bill includes promoting an Info Society, streamlining the regulatory functions, realign responsibilities of the government, the regulatory body and to draw clarity. They also highlighted on the major changes in the ICM Act 2006. The presentation was then followed by discussions.


The Bill will be tabled for third reading in the upcoming summer session of the National Assembly of Bhutan.

The presentation was organized by the Legislative Committee in the National Assembly Conference Hall.
