New Danish Ambassador to Bhutan visits National Assembly

H.E. Mr.  Peter Taksøe-Jensen, the new Danish Ambassador to Bhutan called on Hon Speaker Jigme Zangpo today. European Investment Bank Framework Agreement to be proposed to be deliberated in the joint sitting

The House re-deliberated on the European Investment Bank Framework Agreement (FWA) based on the objections made by the National Council. The Member in charge of FWA, the Minister for Finance informed that the National Council has objected to the ratification of the FWA mainly on sovereignty issues. He informed that the National Council has stated that ratifying the FWA will undermine the sovereignty of the country.

Today, the House continued its deliberation on the Jabmi(Amendment) Bill 2015. The House deliberated on section 23 (h) of the Bill at length which requires Jabmis to have undergone the National Legal Course. Today, the Minister for Works & Human Settlement moved the motion to deliberate on the Yenlag Thromde of Paro Dzongkhag. The Dzongkhag Tshogdu of Paro had proposed Jetshephu to be declared as the Yenlag Thromde. However, some of the Members submitted that Betekha was more feasible to be declared as the Yenlag Thromde given its larger population and potential to become a commercially viable place.
