Re-deliberation on National Council’s recommendations on Annual Budget 2016-17

The National Assembly today re-deliberated on recommendations on Annual Budget 2016-17 from the National Council.  The National Council made recommendations on three broad categories, Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for FY 2015-16, Budget Appropriation Bill for 2016-17 and on Revised Taxes.

National Assembly Adopted the Civil Aviation Bill 2015 today

As per the Rules of procedure, the Minister of Communication and Information, moved the motion in the house today for adoption of the Civil Aviation Bill 2015. Minister informed the house that there has been extensive consultation outside of the house and intensive deliberation in the house on the bill since 5th session.

Motion: Streamlining and Restructuring the Central School System

The Member of Pangbang Constituency moved motion to streamline and restructure Central School (CS) System on behalf of the Opposition Party. He informed the House that the policy of establishment of CS has created disparity between children studying in CS and in other schools.

The Minister for Health was asked on the situation to mitigate the suffering of patients due to want of basic health equipments like Ultrasound and X-rays. In addition, the Member of Nanong Shumar asked the status on the availability of female nurses to be posted to every BHU. National Assembly passes the Annual Budget 2016-17

The Minister of Finance moved the motion in the National Assembly today for adoption of the Revised Taxes and Levies Bill of Bhutan 2016. The Minister said that it will immensely benefit the low income group of people, children and the private sector and asked for the endorsement of the bill by the house.

The Chairperson of Finance Committee in the afternoon today presented its third report on the Revised Taxes and Levies Bill of Bhutan, 2016 as a money bill. The chairperson informed the house on the tax slabs of the SAARC countries and submitted that Bhutan has the lowest taxable amount.
