Today, the deliberation concluded on the Bhutan Information & Communication Bill 2016 in the National Assembly. The deliberations were simultaneously held on the recommendations of the Special Committee which was formed on 2nd June 2017 on provisions related to offences and penalties of the Bill.

Presenting the recommendations of the House on 77 clauses, the Chairperson of the Legislative Committee who is also the Member from Tashicholing constituency informed that the committee had held numerous consultative meetings with the stakeholders after the Bill was referred to the committee in the last session.

National Assembly passes the Annual Budget for the Fiscal Year 2017-18

The National Assembly today passed the Annual Budget for the Fiscal Year 2017-18 amounting to Nu. 60,777.871 million, Supplementary Budget for the Fiscal Year 2016-17 amounting to Nu.  4,525.552 million taking the total revised budget for the financial year 2016-17 to Nu. 59,227.076 million and the recommendations of the Pay Commission.  Voting on the Annual Budget, 43 Members voted ‘Yes’ and one voted ‘No’ while the supplementary budget was passed…....

Stabilization Fund of Nu.100 million which is set forth to be established during the fiscal year 2017-18 was deliberated after the Member from Bartsham-Shongphu constituency raised doubts on the establishment of the fund. The House today ratified the Multilateral Agreement on the Establishment of Think Tank for Landlocked Countries after 41 Members voted ‘Yes’ while two Members voted ‘No’ and one abstained from voting. There was a total of 44 Members present during the voting.

Deliberation concludes on the Multilateral Agreement for Establishment of Think Tank for Landlocked Countries

Today the House concluded its deliberation on the Multilateral Agreement for Establishment of Think Tank for Landlocked Countries. The deliberation on the Agreement had resumed after some of the Members on 17th May submitted that related documents of the Agreement should be made available to the House before further deliberation. The Almaty Programme of Action and the Vienna Programme of Action were subsequently circulated to the Members.

Distribution of power tillers to all Chiwogs questioned

The Member from Wamrong constituency questioned the Minister for Agriculture & Forests on the distribution of power tillers to all Chiwogs. He submitted that so far power tillers have not been distributed to all Chiwogs.
