House re-deliberates on the Sub-regional Motor Vehicle Agreement (BBIN)

The House re-deliberated on the Motor Vehicle Agreement between Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal (BBIN). The deliberations were based on 15 point objections transmitted by the National Council which deliberated and voted not to ratify the agreement on 15th of this month. The National Assembly had ratified the agreement during the 7th session of the Second Parliament.

National Assembly adopts Trade, Commerce and Transit Agreement with India

The National Assembly today unanimously adopted the Trade, Commerce and Transit Agreement between Bhutan and India. There were a total of 43 Members present during the voting. Following the adoption, the Speaker of the House expressed his appreciation to the government and parliament of India for their support and high regard in adopting the agreement.

The Minister for Economic Affairs presented the Agreement on Trade, Commerce & Transit between the Royal Government of Bhutan and the Government of the Republic of India. The National Assembly today unanimously passed the Civil Aviation Bill of Bhutan 2015. There were 37 Members present during the voting. The Bill will now be submitted to His Majesty the Druk Gyalpo as per Article 13(6) of the Constitution for Royal assent.

Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill passed by the National Assembly

The National Assembly passed the Supplementary Budget Appropriation Bill for the financial year 2016-17. The supplementary budget approved amounts to the tune of Nu. 262.808 million which takes the revised approved budget for the financial year 2016-17 to the tune of Nu. 55,091.036 million. The Bill received 39 votes in favour while two Members voted ‘No’ and one Member abstained from voting. There were 42 Members present during the voting.
